Household management guide

Build a household cleaning system that fits the home

A cleaning system works better when tasks are grouped by frequency, room, effort and who is responsible rather than copied from a generic schedule.

Inventory the recurring work

List the surfaces and rooms that actually need regular attention instead of beginning with someone else's checklist.

Separate daily from periodic tasks

Small reset tasks, weekly cleaning and occasional deeper jobs should not compete for the same time block.

Match tools to the task

Keep a small, understandable set of tools and products rather than accumulating many overlapping products.

Review the system

If the same jobs are always skipped, change the schedule or ownership instead of assuming more willpower is the answer.
